A project in which Betech produced more than 250,000 brass micro components for an optical measuring instrument. What tolerances are achievable in micro turning?

Achievable tolerances depend on material, geometry, wall thickness and production volume. Within precision micro turning, Betech manufactures components with tolerances up to ±0.005 mm, including runout and concentricity control where required.

 

For small diameters, clamping conditions, heat generation and tool wear also affect repeatability. Production is therefore set up using fixed process parameters, standardised tooling and SPC-controlled quality monitoring.

What is the minimum diameter for producing components?

Betech manufactures precision turned parts from Ø 1 mm, depending on geometry, material type and the functional requirements of the component.

 

For very small diameters, factors such as clamping conditions, heat generation and material behaviour directly affect dimensional stability and surface quality. Tooling, cutting parameters and process control are therefore optimised for stable serial production of micro components.

Which materials are suitable for precision mechanical components?

Betech processes a wide range of materials for precision mechanical applications, including stainless steel 303, stainless steel 316L, brass, aluminium and titanium.

 

Material selection is based on machinability, corrosion resistance and the functional application of the component. The production process, tooling and machining strategy are then adapted to the characteristics of each material type and the required dimensional and surface quality.

Can measurement reports and material certificates be supplied?

Yes. Depending on the application, Betech provides measurement reports, batch registration and material certificates for traceability of material and production batches within the supply chain.

 

Critical characteristics can be monitored through inline measurements, SPC-controlled process monitoring and additional final inspections. Measurement results are documented in accordance with customer quality requirements and application standards.
